Validation Procedure

Published by SuperAdminEMDAT

Once all information is entered into the database, the record undergoes a validation process. This validation process has the objective of avoiding errors, but also allows the comparison of data coming from different sources and choosing the most relevant data. CRED is also developing an internal error-checking system, which will provide an alert if the information is not entered correctly or if some data appear suspect (e.g. more than 10% of the population killed). All data that have been validated by the EM-DAT team is made available to the public every three months.
