Debarati Guha-Sapir is Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research on the Epidemiology of Disasters (CRED) and Professor at University of Louvain School of Public Health, in Brussels, Belgium. She holds an Adjunct Professorship at Tulane University Medical Centre (New Orleans) for Health and Humanitarian Aid. Trained in Calcutta University, Johns Hopkins University and University of Louvain she holds a Ph.D in epidemiology.

Alexander Diaz T.

Alexander F. Díaz is a Technical Computer Engineer at CRED. He has a technical computer degree from CECEP Foundation of Cali in Colombia and a background in Management and Business Administration from the Free University of Cali. Before joining CRED, Alex worked in the insurance sector and in a private energy company in Colombia as developer and as IT manager of the financial department, respectively. He also worked for ITC services in Spain as a developer in B2B and in Belgium as a developer of B2B software and in marketing.

Bernadette Dubus

Bernadette is an Administrative Assistant at CRED and is in charge of reporting for the MICRODIS project and the organization of the annual APHES summer course. She did her bachelor degree in geographical science and earned her Master’s in Science and environmental management at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL)

Barbara Cichon

Barabara is a Resarch Assistant at CRED and a member of the MICRODIS team. Before joining CRED in 2008, she worked as a consultant at Quintiles Consulting in the Netherlands. She earned her Bachelor in Health Sciences at the University of York and her Master’s in Science on the Control of Infectious Disease at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in London.

Laura Irvine

Laura Irvine is a Research Fellow and also the Technical Officer of the European Commission funded FP6 Integrated Project MICRODIS (www.microdis-eu.be). She earned a Bachelors of Arts with Honours in International Development Studies from Dalhousie University (Halifax, Canada) and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the University of Kent at Brussels. She has been working at CRED since 2007 in project management and research.
